Custom Builders Inc. was established in 1964, they were the first Blue Ribbon Butler Dealer in Iowa.
At conception the main thrust was grain bins, augers and dryers. In 1971 Butler unveiled the Farmstead 1, an all steel slant walled farm building for storage of grain and equipment. After all of these years, Butler Buildings, are now more than ever still known as the leader in steel frame construction buildings.
In 1980 a line of wood frame buildings was added to the Company’s menu to compliment its steel frame building line.
Storage buildings, Farm Shops, Commercial buildings, Hog confinements, Equine facilities, & Cattle Confinements. We use to say we build everything but homes, but with the partnership we have with EPS Buildings that is no longer true!
Custom Builders prides itself on Planning, Service, & carrying a full line of repair parts for all the animal confinements and service crews to install them.
As they say… “Nothing happens until a sale is made” so with that we have a great sales group who not only sell, but plan, design, and follow the projects thru completion.

Rob started working for the Company in 1976, 1 year out of high school and never left! Rob’s duties as one of the partners is to oversee daily operations, and assit the sales and clerical staff with any problems or opportunities that arise. His passion for all types of building projects continues along with his knowledge and experience with grain handling & storage systems. After all these years he still loves meeting new people and welcoming them as customers.
Arlan brings solid Ag building and Livestock knowledge to us with his farm raised values and Iowa State degree. Arlan was on ISU judging team, and carried the passion for livestock to his position now with Custom Builders. Hogs and Cattle are his favorites, and has cutting edge ideas on both structures.
Randy also came to us right from college, and has never looked back. He actually started and ran his own company RDS Construction for many years, building nearly exclusively for Custom Builders Inc. Since 2012, Randy has joined us in the office as a sales consultant and continues to run his independent business. Look to Randy for a great combination of sales and construction knowledge on any of your next building projects.
We welcome him as the newest partner to Custom Builders in 2014! Welcome aboard!!
Along with ownership responsibilities, Darrin is a specialist in the Hog confinement field along with all aspects of the other building lines. Having started directly out of college and with his experience since high school at the family business in Keota (Vittetoe, Inc.) he hit the ground running. For prompt, courteous planning of your new facility or project call Darrin with confidence.
